Wilhelm, Carrie Ruth (nee McLain)
Carrie Ruth McLain Wilhelm, 94, of Tavares, Florida, formerly of Scott City, died Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Cornerstone Hospice House in Tavares.
She was born March 10, 1920, in Cape Girardeau, to Monroe and Myrtle Coomer McLain. She married Henry Antone Wilhelm March 29, 1947, in Benton, Missouri. He preceded her in death April 26, 1996.
Carrie was a riveter and welder on Navy ships during World War II. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 6407 and Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Council 6420, all in Scott City.
She is survived by two sons, Jim Wilhelm of Zellwood, Florida, and Kenneth Wilhelm of Scott City; a daughter, Sandra Borst of Wildwood, Florida; a brother, Jack McLain of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Mary Wissman of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, eight brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Scott City. Parish prayers will be at 6.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Scott City, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin officiating.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Church or Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW.
