Willer, Dorothy (nee Goehring)

Dorothy Willer, 91, of Jackson passed away Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 25, 1918, in Cape Girardeau, to Otto and Alma Hemmann Goehring. Dorothy was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. She attended Trinity Lutheran School and Central High School.

Dorothy then resided in St. Louis several years and was employed at Libson Shops, Stix Baer and Fuller, and J.C. Penney.

She and Howard Kiehne were married Jan. 14, 1943. He was killed Feb. 28, 1945, during World War II in the European Theater. She and Raymond W. Willer were married July 13, 1952. He passed away May 23, 1995.

Dorothy became a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in 1952. She and Raymond were active in a variety of church organizations. Dorothy especially enjoyed working in vacation Bible school. She also volunteered with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in Jackson.

Loving survivors include two sons, Thomas (Mary) Kiehne and David Willer of Jackson; a daughter, Jane (Dennis) Wessel of Gordonville; four grandchildren, Grant (Jan) Kiehne, Chad (Amy) Kiehne, Sarah Wessel (Adam) Johnson, Morgan Wessel; four great-grandchildren, Noah Michael Kiehne, Madeline Pearl Kiehne, Wesley Thomas Kiehne, and Aron Christopher Kiehne; a sister, Viola G. Richelmann of Cape Girardeau; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Goehring; and a sister, Flora Suedekum.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Emanuel United Church of Christ general fund (Jackson).
