Wilson, Charles O.

Charles O. Wilson, 70, of Oak Ridge passed away Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 27, 1940, in Oak Ridge, son of Thomas Edward and Ruby Stearns Wilson. Charles married Loretta Volz on Feb. 14, 1959, in Oak Ridge.

Charles attended Oak Ridge High School. He was a former member of Millersville Methodist Church, Oak Ridge Baptist Church and since 1972 had been a member of Caney Fork Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the deacons and as a Sunday school teacher since the age of 18.

Charles had worked for Drury's Tile and Plaster, the former Brown's Shoe Co., and in 1973 he started Wilson' Auto Body and Wilson's Auto Sales in Oak Ridge.

Loving survivors include his wife Loretta for 51 years; one son Elden (Kim) Wilson of Oak Ridge; two daughters Tina (Michael) Blechle of Oak Ridge and Mary (Kenny) Stearns of Millersville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, with his fifth great-grandchild expected any day.

Also surviving are one sister, Nancy A. Friese of Pocahontas, and one brother Tom Wilson of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Cathy Wilson and one sister Gladys Parson.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bill Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow at Caney Fork Baptist Church Cemetery near Millersville.

Memorials may be made to the Caney Fork Baptist Church.
