Wilson, Roy Grover

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Roy G. Wilson, 74, of Perryville died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

He was born Sept. 29, 1929, to the late Roy "Pebble" Wilson and Hilda D. Boxdorfer Wilson Cretin. He married Volda R. Zahner Aug. 25, 1951.

He was a milk distributor for 30 years with Chester Farm Fresh Dairy and retired from Probst Implement. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the veterans' "Chosen Few" organization. He held membership with VFW Post 4282 and American Legion Post 133.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kathleen Gardner of Kansas City, Mo.; four grandchildren; a step grandson; and three great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by a step-father.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 6:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Young & Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. A parish wake will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday. A VFW wake will follow at 4:15 p.m. Mass will be at noon Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Burial with military graveside service will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
