Winkler, Lester B.

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Lester B. Winkler, 82, of Crestline, Ohio, formerly of Perryville, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, in Crestline.

He was born Dec. 5, 1918, in Perry County, Mo., son of Daniel and Anna H. Leible Winkler. He married Aline C. Renaud, who died March 23, 1972.

Winkler was a line supervisor for PPG Industries. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Crestline, VFW Post 2920, American Legion Post 488, and Knights of Columbus Council 2642.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include three sons, Gerald Winkler of Soldotna, Alaska, Russell and Kevin Winkler of Crestline; two daughters, Barbara Cope and Ceilann Hoffer of Crestline; a sister, Margaret Buchheit of Perryville; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home from 8-10 a.m. Friday.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Mt. Hope Cemetery. The Rev. Kevin P. Fausz will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 133.

Graveside service will be held Friday, Dec. 7, 2001 for 82-year-old Lester B. Winkler of Crestline, Ohio, formerly of Perryville, who died Sunday, Dec. 2.

He was born on Dec. 5, 1918 in Perry County, the son of the late Daniel and Anna H. Leible Winkler.

He was married to Aline C. Renaud. She preceded him in death on March 23, 1972.

Children surviving are Gerald Winkler of Soldotna, Alaska; Russell Winkler, Kevin Winkler, Barbara Cope and Ceilann Hoffer, all of Crestline, Ohio.

One sister, Margaret Buchheit, survives in Perryville.

Nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and two step grandchildren also survive him.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Augustus; and three sisters, Leola Moore, Wilma Tucker and Myrtle Winkler.

Mr. Winkler had been a line supervisor for PPG Industries and was a World War II Veteran.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Crestline, Ohio, a member of the V.F.W. Post 2920, American Legion Post 488, and Knights of Columbus 2642.

Visitation will be from 8-10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 7 at the Miller Family Funeral Home.

Graveside service for Lester B. Winkler will be held Friday, Dec. 7, 2001 at 10 a.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery. Rev. Kevin P. Fausz C.M. will officiate.
