PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Walter J. "Wally" Winkler, 88, of Perryville died Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at his home.

He was born March 4, 1925, at Apple Creek, Mo., to Theodore and Louise Ponder Winkler. He married Zita Hennemann on Oct. 16, 1954, at Apple Creek.

Walter was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church at Apple Creek. He was a self-employed painter. He loved to fish and hunt.

Surviving is his wife, Zita Winkler of Perryville; and two brothers, Hubert Winkler of Perryville and Tommy Winkler of St. Louis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Miller Family Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church at Apple Creek. The Rev. James French will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery at Apple Creek.

A funeral will be held Friday, January 3rd, 2013 for 88 year old Walter J. ‘Wally’ Winkler of Perryville, who died Monday, December 30th, 2013 at his home.

He was born March 4th, 1925 in Apple Creek, the son of Theodore and Louise (Ponder) Winkler. They preceded him in death.

He married Zita Hennemann October 16th, 1954 in Apple Creek. She survives there.

Two brothers survive: Hubert Winkler of Perryville and Tommy Winkler of St. Louis.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church-Apple Creek. He had been a self-employed painter. He loved to fish and hunt.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, January 2nd at the Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. Visitation continues from 6:30-9:30 a.m. Friday, January 3rd. The Rosary will be recited at 9 a.m.

A funeral for Walter J. ‘Wally’ Winkler will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 3rd, 2013 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek. The Rev. James French will officiate.

Burial will follow in the St. Michaels Cemetery in Apple Creek.
