Wood, Rita D. (nee Hagan)
PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Rita D. Wood, 84, of Perryville died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006, at the Perry County Nursing Home in Perryville.
She was born Oct. 22, 1921, in Brewer, Mo., daughter of Leo Andrew and Mary Verdella Hager Hagan. She and Chalmer Wood were married Jan. 8, 1938, in Brewer, and he died Dec. 6, 1988.
Wood had worked at the International Shoe Co., and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Klump of St. Charles, Mo., and Cindy Prost of Perryville; four sons, Melvin Wood of St. John, Mo., Roger Wood of Paris, Mo., Allan Wood of Perryville and Richard Wood of O'Fallon, Mo.; a sister, Mildred Greathouse of Edwardsville, Ill.; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and two grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 6:30 to 10:50 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, with the Rev. Kevin P. Fausz officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.

A funeral was held Wednesday, September 13th, 2006 for 84-year-old Rita D. Wood of Perryville, who died Sunday, September 10th, 2006 at the Perry County Nursing Home.
She was born October 22nd, 1921 in Brewer, the daughter of Leo and Mary (Hager) Hagan. They preceded her in death.
She married Chalmer Wood January 8th, 1938. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Joyce and Donald Klump of St. Charles, Cindy and Roger Prost of Perryville; four sons and three daughters in law, Melvin and Barbara Wood of St. John, Roger Wood of Paris, Allan and Diane Wood of Perryville, Richard and Jan Wood of O'Fallon; a sister, Mildred Greathouse of Edwardsville, IL; 19 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and two grandchildren.
She was a former employee of the International Shoe Company, and a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Friends and family visited Tuesday and Wednesday at the Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville.
A funeral for 84-year-old Rita D. Wood of Perryville was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 13th, 2006 at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Kevin Fausz officiated.
Burial was effected at the Mount Hope Cemetery.
