Young, David S. "Scotty"

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- David S. "Scotty" Young, 71, of Perryville died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, in Ste. Genevieve, Mo.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Young and Sons Funeral Home. Parish wake is at 7 p.m. today.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

A funeral will be held Friday, January 27, 2012 for 71-year-old David S. "Scotty" Young of Perryville who died Tuesday, January 24, 2012 in Ste. Genevieve.

He was born February 19, 1940 in Perryville, the son of Wallace and Lucille (Versheldon) Young.

He married Bonita Sue Clendenin on April 7, 1962. She preceded him in death on May 6, 2003.

He is survived by two sons: Jeff (Sarah) Young of Perryville and Chris Young of Perryville; a daughter: Kimberly (Steve) Bishop of Ste. Genevieve; a sister: Mary Lynne Gotto of Perryville; nine grandchildren: Keri (Jason) Moll, Rachelle and Jerry Young, Lauren and Jeffrey Baughman, Kindra Bishop, Dustin (Nicole) Bishop, Brittany Stortz, Brandon Young; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He had been a funeral director and a musician with his own band, "Scotty and the Chargers".

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, member of AmVets Post 94; a 1958 graduate of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic High School; he loved the outdoors and fishing.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, January 26 and 6:30-9:30 a.m. Friday, January 27 at the Young & Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. A parish wake will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday.

A funeral for 71-year-old David S. "Scotty" Young of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 27 at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Milton Ryan will officiate.

Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to family use.
