Yount, Don P.

Don P. Yount, 82, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at his daughter's home in Bloomington, Ill.

He was born Nov. 10, 1924, in Patton, Mo., son of Jessie A. and Pairlee Farmer Yount. He and Betty Louise Dolle were married April 4, 1947, in Marquand, Mo.

Don was a veteran of World War II, honorably serving from Aug. 9, 1943, to Dec. 30, 1945.

The Younts lived many years in Viburnum, Mo., where Don worked as a shaft sinking superintendent for St. Joe Mineral Corp., retiring in 1984.

Upon moving to Jackson after retirement, they became members of Wesley United Methodist Church in Fruitland.

Loving survivors include his wife of 59 years, Betty, of Jackson; two children, Michael C. Yount of New York, N.Y., and Pamela S. (Mike) Poston of Bloomington; a brother, Glen Yount of Herculaneum, Mo.; a sister, Dolly Fadler of Farmington, Mo.; three grandchildren, Sarah (Fabian) Perez of Phenix City, Ala., Andrew Poston of Bloomington, Patrick Poston of St. Louis; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Sophie Perez.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Revs. Richard Combs and Kevin Cawley officiating. Burial will follow at Patton United Methodist Cemetery in Patton.
