Yount, Julius Franklin
Julius F. Yount, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, May 21, 2006, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born June 2, 1920, in Marquand, Mo., son of the late Columbus Franklin and Nellie Killian Yount. He and Emma J. Long were married Jan. 12, 1946, in West Memphis, Ark. She preceded him in death Sept. 26, 2001.
Mr. Yount served in the Army and was a veteran of World War II. He entered World War II in the European Theater shortly after D-Day in the U.S. 3rd Army Infantry under General Patton. He fought in famous battles at Bastogne and the Argonne Forest during the Battle of the Bulge, earning him three battle stars.
He was a member and past board member of First Church of the Nazarene in Cape Girardeau, owned and operated Yount's Tool and Trailer Rental in Webster Groves, Mo., from 1961 to the late 1970s. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1977, and was a member of Lions Club and VFW Post 3838.
He is survived by a son, Terry Yount and wife Karen of Chesterfield, Mo.; two daughters, Barbara Seabaugh and husband, Darrell, and Linda McKinnis and husband, Michael, all of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Tina Yount of Herculaneum, Mo., Tamara Orloff of Los Angeles, Natalie Orloff of Paducah, Ky., Dustin McKinnis of Cape Girardeau, and Jessica Yount of Chesterfield; and a great-grandchild, Brianna Yount of St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Eunice Davis; and two grandchildren, Terry Lynn Yount and Tony Lee Yount
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Vernon Long officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park with full military honors conducted by Missouri Honor Guard and VFW Post 3838.
