Yount, Roy Russell

BELL CITY, Mo. -- Roy Russell Yount, 67, of Bell City died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Mo.

He was born July 7, 1946, at Bessville, Mo., son of W.F. and Helen Green Yount. He and Veronica Lanham were married Sept. 21, 1969, in St. Louis. To this union two sons and two daughters were born: Shawn William, Amy Joy, Emily Autumn and Andrew Franklin.

Roy was employed as a construction worker in Southeast Missouri and St. Louis, and was a timber worker. He served as chief of police in Marble Hill (Lutesville), Mo., and ran on the Democratic ticket for Bollinger County sheriff in 1980.

Survivors include his wife, Veronica; children, Shawn William, Amy Joy Hale (special friend Claude Hogan), Emily Autumn, Andrew Franklin (special friend Ashlie Conner); two grandchildren, Autumn Joy Hale (daughter of the late Dennis Hale) and Conner James Russell Yount; and, thought of like a son, Cory Gable; three sisters, Thelma Keller of Perryville, Mo., Fay Huckstep of Marble Hill and Wilma Ray of Pevely, Mo.; two brothers, Paul and Arnold Yount of Marble Hill; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dale.

Arrangements were handled by Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home at Dexter.
