Zahner, Alonzo D.

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Alonzo D. Zahner, 86, of Perryville died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Miller Family Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer, Mo. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

A funeral will be held Saturday, October 16, 2010 for 86-year-old Alonzo D. Zahner of Perryville who died Tuesday, October 12th at the Missouri Veterans' Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 29, 1924 in Perryville the son of Daniel and Urthel Zahner who both preceded him in death.

He married Lillian Mattingly on Sept. 11, 1946 in Brewer. She preceded him in death.

He is survived by a son: Edward Zahner of Republic; a daughter: Cathy Warner of Brewer; grandsons: Michael Zahner of Springfield, Ronald Zahner of Pleasant Hope, Danniel Zahner of St. Louis, Jason Werner of Brewer and Michael Werner of Piedmont; a granddaughter: Michelle LaRose of Missouri; four great grandchildren; a sister: Eleanor Hagan of Perryville and two brothers: Raymond Zahner of Florida and Oliver Zahner of Highland.

He was also preceded in death by a son: Ronald Zahner; a brother: Daniel Zahner and a sister: Elvie Weibrecht.

He was retired from Bilt Best Window Corporation.

He was a Korean War Army veteran. He was a member of the American Legion.

He was a member of Christ the Savior Parish in Brewer.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, October 15th and 6:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 16th at the Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Funeral Home.

A funeral mass for 86-year-old Alonzo D. Zahner of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. at Christ the Savior Catholic Church in Brewer

Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery with graveside military honors courtesy of the American Legion and the Delta Team.

Memorials may be made to Masses at Christ the Savior.
