FROM THE EDITOR
I am very sorry this issue of the newsletter is late. I have been having some personal problems that have caused the delay of this newsletter. I will finish the newsletters for 1987, but will not continue to publish after that. However copies of the two years of newsletter will be in the Library of Congress and the Genealogical Society Library in Salt Lake City. So if you are going to send a Query DO IT NOW! Someone might see it at a future date and be a great deal of help to you.
If any one would like to assume the publication of this newsletter please let me know. I have heard from many fine people who been most generous with sending me information.
I also must apologize to those of you who have sent me information which I have not acknowledged. I do very much appreciate the information and do plan to write to you at a later date. A hint for those who are new to genealogical correspondence. Send a self-addressed stamped envelope. The guilt of having one of those around is more than that of the general unanswered mail, even though I and most people you write to don't mind supplying their own stamp.
For those of you who were not subscribers in 1986, you may purchase the 1986 issues for $12.00.
CORRECTION: In the March 1987 issue page 6 I indicated that John Samuel Statler was the grandson of Lieutenant-Colonel Samuel Statler. He was the son.

Would like any information on a Christina Statler born circa 1750-60 in either Pennsylvania or North Carolina. Married Christian Seabaugh born circa 1750 in Pennsylvania. They came to Cape Girardeau County, Missouri about 1808 with 15 children all born in North Carolina (probably Lincoln County). Children were, Christian II, Joseph, Jacob, Daniel, Sarah, Catherine, Jesse, Peter, Adam, Christina, Christopher, Elizabeth, Emanuel, Barbara and David. (There may have been another child, 16th.)

(Maria) Magdalena Stetler, born circa 1790, perhaps in Easton, Pennsylvania or Northhampton County, Pennsylvania. Married Jacob Scheip/Shipe, born 16 Aug. 1789. Her father was probably Jacob Stetler, mother Catharine. Maria's son William Henry Shipe died Dec. 22, 1900 in Stark County, Ohio (Paris Township). Any help on Maria Magdalina Stetler greatly appreciated.

Any history on the following:
"Jake" or Jacob Statler father of John Statler. John Statler was born in
Bartlett, Iowa. Jacob Statler is believed to have come from Germany.
ED. NOTE; From another descendent of your John Statler, I learned that Jacob Statler lived in Licking County, Ohio, from that I would assume he is a relative of the other Statlers (Statelers) in that county. (See information on Group 10 in previous issues.) Your Jacob would not be the same as the one who lived in Marion County, Ohio since he had a son named John who moved to Wisconsin.

Who were the parents of Robert Stadler and wife Mary? They lived in Granville County, North Carolina close to the Virginia state line in Jan. 1792 and were witnesses to John Shanks' will. John lived in Mecklenburg County, Virginia and most likely near the North Carolina line as Robert and Mary Stadler witnessed his will. Robert Stadler was drowned and didn't come to Caswell County, North Carolina. Mary came to Caswell County a short time later and lived in Caswell County until she died in 1854 and 100 yrs and a few weeks.
ED. NOTE; The only information I have on any Robert Stadler in the right time period is the tax list from Loudon County, Virginia (see Issue 1, 1986). And a letter in Philadelphia in 1776 (see Issue 4, 1986). The John Statler who lived in Loudon County was born in Pennsylvania about 1759 which would make him about the right age to be Robert's brother.
